Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026 · This update: expanded collection scope, service providers and cross-border processing, subscription and retention details
What this policy covers
This website is operated by 1255467 B.C. Ltd., doing business as Lucid Financial Planning ("Lucid", "we"). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect personal information gathered through this website, and closes with a summary of how information is handled in formal client relationships.
Lucid handles personal information primarily under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA); where activities cross provincial or national borders, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply.
Privacy Officer: Lucinda Xue, lucinda@lucidfinancial.co. Access requests, corrections, deletion requests, and complaints can all be raised through this address.
Information we collect
Contact form and email: the name, email address, phone number (if given), and message content you choose to provide. This website does not require an account, and we do not collect payment information through the site.
Newsletter subscription: your email address, and subscription and unsubscribe records.
Website analytics (Google Analytics 4): a cookie-based Client ID, device and browser information, approximate location, referring pages, and page-view and interaction events.
Page experience analytics (session replay): clicks, scrolling, page paths, and device information (see the dedicated section below).
Hosting and security logs: technical logs the hosting platform keeps to operate and secure the service.
How we use your information
Information you provide through the form or by email is used only to respond to your inquiry, assess whether our work fits your situation, and arrange conversations you request. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not add you to marketing lists without your consent.
Analytics data is used to improve the free articles and tools we publish. Lucid reviews analytics primarily in aggregate form, does not use this data to directly identify visitors, and does not actively combine analytics identifiers with contact-form information.
Who can access this information (service providers and cross-border processing)
This information is stored or processed by service providers acting as data processors on our behalf. The main categories: our website hosting and database platform (Base44), website analytics (Google), and our email provider.
These providers' servers may be located outside Canada, including in the United States. While stored or processed abroad, data may be subject to lawful access by local courts and government authorities. We require providers to protect information through service agreements and access controls; outsourcing processing does not transfer Lucid's responsibilities under privacy law.
Website analytics (Google Analytics)
This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how our content is read (for example, which articles are viewed, how far readers scroll, and how long they stay). To be precise, the raw collection is not only "aggregated data": by default GA4 uses a cookie-based Client ID and collects device, browser, approximate location, and interaction events. Lucid reviews the results primarily in aggregate form, does not use this data to directly identify visitors, and does not actively combine analytics identifiers with form information.
You can decline analytics cookies through your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, without affecting your use of the site.
Page experience analytics (session replay)
To understand which content actually helps — which pages get read to the end, how far readers get in each tool — the hosting platform records de-identified browsing sessions (clicks, scrolling, page paths, and device information). Form fields are masked by default: the name, email, phone number, and message you type into forms do not enter the replay.
These recordings are used solely to improve content and page design; we do not use them to identify visitors, and they are not combined with form information. Replay data is retained by the hosting platform for a limited period under its retention policy; we do not export it for long-term storage. If you prefer your visits not to be recorded, email lucinda@lucidfinancial.co, or use your browser's privacy or content-blocking tools.
Newsletter subscription
If you subscribe to our updates, your email address and subscription record are stored in the site's database and used only to send new articles, new tools, and intake-window announcements — the same purposes stated beside the subscription form. We keep records of subscription consent as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
Every email includes an unsubscribe mechanism, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us directly. After you unsubscribe we stop sending, and retain the minimal unsubscribe record needed to ensure we do not contact you again.
Retention
Retention differs by category: inquiries and messages that do not develop into a client relationship are deleted after the response and reasonable follow-up, generally within 24 months; newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe; Google Analytics event-data retention is set to 14 months; session replays are deleted automatically by the hosting platform under its retention policy; formal client records are kept in accordance with applicable regulatory and professional record-keeping requirements; and records that the law requires us to keep, or that relate to a dispute, are retained accordingly.
Your rights and complaints
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete information we have no legal obligation to keep. Email lucinda@lucidfinancial.co and we will respond promptly.
If you believe we have handled your personal information improperly, you may also complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC BC) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).
Formal client relationships and AI tools (summary)
For engaged clients, the complete terms governing information handling are set out in the engagement documents, provided in writing before signing. In summary: client records and planning data are managed in professional financial planning software (Conquest), not in general-purpose AI tools; where our analysis uses AI assistance, it is limited to numbers and scenario work on de-identified data — no names, identity documents, or account numbers; the AI tools we use are required, at both the account-settings and contract level, not to use data for model training; and all analysis and advice is reviewed by, and remains the responsibility of, a licensed planner.
